Fishing for Reels

A warm welcome to Fishing 4 Reels!

I've been a keen angler since I was about 6 years old. I have many fond memories of teaching myself the necessary techniques to stalk and catch fish of all kinds in all weathers and conditions, and in all types of waters, from small farm ponds to the swelling torrents of high rivers, from 30 acre lakes to small fast-flowing feeder streams. When about 6 or 7 years old, a great many fishing books were passed on to me in the family, including handbooks and Izaak Walton's classic The Compleat Angler, but by far the most infuential was Mr Crabtree Goes Fishing, a wonderfully informative and illustrated book that absolutely ignited the imagination of a 6 year old kid. (If you have a child you want to get interested in fishing, then really this book is a true gem.)

Over the years, I have collected a rich array of equipment all of which has its particular use in a given situation. The seasoned angler will instantly recognize that to own a single rod and reel can put you at severe disadvantage in many situations. Fishing is very much a "horses for courses" activity, where a particular piece of fishing tackle is best suited to a given situation. For example, a light-tipped thirteen feet graphite rod will not do you much good if you are going after large bottom-feeding barbel, likewise, a Lamson Litespeed 40 fly reel will not serve you well if floating crust in the middle of a sun drenched lake in the hunt for big carp. Consequently, the serious all-around fisherman must own a broad selection on tackle.

But, alas, fishing tackle is not always very cheap. Fishing reels are often among the more expensive items. For this reason, I have put together this little site showcasing some of the best deals on fishing reels on the 'net. To the left, broad fishing categories break down in to finer grained categories when clicked.

I hope you find something here that will serve you in becoming a better fisherman. Tight lines, my friend!
